50th Birthday Card

 

I had a request for a 50th birthday card similar to one I made several years ago for my dearest friend. The person requesting this card felt the orange shade and images would be perfect for their co-worker who was reaching a milestone birthday.

To begin, the card base was created in white card stock. This was they layered with gold mirror paper. A panel using orange card stock was die cut and adhered to the gold mirror paper. Finally, a white embossed panel was adhered. This was put aside to work on the die cut images.

A scalloped rectangular panel was die cut in white card stock on which the sentiment was computer generated. This was then adhered to the prepared card. Next, a champagne glass was die cut in white card stock, a swirl in gold, the number 50 in gold and shoes in orange card stock were die cut, positioned  and adhered to the card as shown. Tiny gold dots were die cut and  added to the champagne glass to give the illusion of bubbles. Tiny flowers in two shades of orange were added to the shoes and a tiny pearl placed in the center. All images were adhered with dimensionals. This completed my project.

Dotted Swiss in Pink and White

 This card was made for the wife of one of my nephews. Only 2 colors of card stock were used....white and pink. It didn't require a lot of work and I was very pleased with the result. Listed below are the products used to create this card.

Hip Replacement Recovery Card

 

Hello, crafting friends!  This card was made for an individual who had hip replacement surgery and is now recovering. Wishing them a speedy recovery!

Here are the steps taken to create this card:

I began by die cutting all the images that I had planned to include on the card. The most tedious was the wheel chair which included many small or tiny parts for assembly. The wheelchair frame was created using silver mirror paper. Black and silver mirror papers were used for the wheels. Red velour card stock was used for the seat cushion and black velour for the arm rests and push handle. The crutches were die cut in kraft card stock with red velour for the crutch pad and black velour for the crutch tip. The cane was also die cut in kraft and red velour used for the handle and black velour for the tip. The red cross was die cut in red velour and adhered to a white shape created from a Spellbinders die (listed below). The band-aid was die cut in pink card stock and the sentiment was computer generated. 

Having die cut and assembled all the images, these were set aside to prepare the base card which was created using white card stock. A burlap layer was added followed by a red layer. An embossing folder was used to create the textured focal layer. At this point the die cut elements were positioned and adhered to the focal layer using adhesive, dimensionals and foam tape. This completed my project.

Coral Floral Birthday

 

 

 

This card was requested by a gentleman who wanted a birthday card for his wife. I never met the gentleman but he was employed at the same place as my daughter and had asked my daughter if I would create a card for his wife. And so I did.

 

He had said that his wife's favorite color was coral and that she loved flowers. And so I went with that.

Having an idea of what I wanted to create I began with an ivory base card and layered it the navy. For the focal panel I used ivory card stock, die cut it and then sponged the edges with navy ink.The birthday greeting was computer generated. This was then adhered to my prepared base and put aside.

 

The closest color of coral that I had in my card stock collection was GKD's Peach Bellini. I die cut several images of the flowers using Poppystamps Stitched Poinsettia Trio dies. The tips of the flowers were sponged with GKD Coral Reef ink. These were then assembled, positioned and adhered to the focal panel. Spruce stems and leaves were added to the floral images and a pearl was adhered to the centers. This completed my project.

Three Square with Sunflowers and Butterflies

 Hello! Several birthdays to celebrate this month. So here is another birthday card created for a friend. It was not a difficult card to create so, instead of going into details, I have just listed the products used.

Wishing Well Birthday

 Hello!  Here is another card I made for a February birthday. This one was made for a friend and neighbor whose birthday falls right on Valentine's Day. How lucky can you get?!?!

I began with working on the focal point....the wishing well. All the pieces were die cut in brown card stock except for the well and the roof. The well was die cut in a light gray and then shaded with Copic markers and the roof was cut out in Kraft card stock and additional color added with Copic markers. Bakers twine was used to create the rope for the bucket and was adhered prior to putting the wishing well together. After assembling, it was attached with dimensionals to a blue panel. A grass border was added to the bottom of the well and an ivy garland was adhered to the roof and little yellow flowers added. Cloud images were die cut and positioned above the well. Cardinal images were die cut and placed in various positions.

Having finished the focal panel, I then created a frame around it in white card stock.  Next, this was matted with brown card stock and then adhered it to a white base card. As a final step and to add a bit more interest, a sign was manually created using some wood grain digital paper I had in my stash. The wording "Make a Wish" was computer generated. This completed my project.

Sewing Charms Birthday

 Hello, fellow crafters! It is February and I have a birthday card here that I created for my best friend. I chose this sewing theme because sewing is one of her many talents. I used dies from 2 different sewing die sets which I have listed below.

I began by creating by base card in whisper white card stock. I decided on a purple color theme and layered the base card with purple card stock. I added another layer in white card stock which was die cut using a scalloped rectangle frame die. This was then put aside to create the die cut images.

The dress mannequin was cut in black mirror paper. I used digital paper from by stash to cover the torso. The thread spools were die cut in kraft card stock and then sponged lightly with brown ink to make them more realistic looking. White card stock and lighter purple card stock were added to the spools to create the look of thread. The needle, thimble and scissors were die cut in silver mirror paper and the scissor handles were paper pieced with the lighter purple card stock. Finally, the sewing machine was die cut in the lighter purple and the wheel was cut in the darker color and adhered to the machine. Silver mirror paper was used on the sewing machine needle.

After all the images were die cut it was time to position and adhere them to the card. Each image was adhered with either dimensional foam or other adhesive. My project was complete.

Autumn Leaves and Owl

 Hello everyone!  Here is another fall card I created. This one was for a college roommate from long ago. Her birthday falls in the middle of this month.

I began with positioning a circle die on the lower right of a panel of brown card stock. I cut out the circle and then ran the panel through a wood grain embossing folder. I then matted this panel with another panel of brown card stock using dimensional foam to give this panel the appearance of a hole in a tree.

Next, I die cut the owl image using kraft, brown and orange card stock. White and black card stock were used to create the eyes of the owl. A clear Glaze pen was used to give a shine to the black "pupils" of the owl's eyes. The owl was then assembled and put aside. 

The leaves were die cut in white card stock and colored with Distress Oxide inks and put aside to prepare the base card.

Ivory card stock was used to create the base. This was layered with orange card stock followed by an orange and brown plaid layer. At this point, I adhered the wood grain layer to the base using a foam dimensional panel. 

The owl was then positioned in the hole on the "tree" and adhered with dimensionals.  The leaves were adhered using both dimensionals and adhesive. I stuck in a few leaves that I had cut in copper card stock to add some extra interest and shine. This completed my project.

This turned out to be a very large card, measuring 6.5* wide by 8.25" high. It has to be the largest card I've ever made!!!  But I really love how it turned out.

Autumn Leaves on Fence

 Hello!  Fall is my most favorite season and I love making fall cards. This one was made for a former co-worker whose birthday falls this month. It was an easy card to make because of its simplicity. But I'm sorry to say that my camera did not capture the vibrant colors of the leaves.

I knew what I had in mind so I began by creating my base card in white card stock. It was then layered with gray card stock followed by white.

The gray fence background was from a paper pack that I had on hand. I adhered this to a white panel to add stability.  A wide copper-orange ribbon was then wrapped around it. Finally, this panel was adhered to my prepared base card.

Now to add the focal elements......the leaves were die cut in white card stock and colored with various Distress Oxide inks. I added a couple of leaves that were die cut in copper card stock as well. All were then positioned and adhered to the fence background.

The sentiment was stamped in black ink, die cut and popped on the ribbon with dimensionals.

Memories of Comfort

 

I made this card for a childhood friend who recently passed away. Since she was Ukrainian, such as myself, I felt sunflowers were the perfect fall theme. This card was made before she passed away and was intended to be delivered to her signed by myself and 3 other close childhood friends. The inside of the card contained a long letter filled with memories of our youth which we hoped would bring her comfort. However, as fate would have it, she was taken from us quickly, before the card could be delivered. The card was given to her husband at her funeral. 

This is just a reminder to keep in touch with those you love.

 We never know when they might leave us.
 

Masculine Shirt Card

 

Hello, crafting friends! As many of you know, masculine card ideas are sometimes a challenge, hard to come by. If you're making a card for the men in your life (be it your husband, son, brother, etc) all year, sometimes it's difficult to come up with a different theme each time. There are several masculine shirt card ideas out there. Here is one shirt card I made for my nephew who has a birthday this month.

This was a fun card to create and I was pleased with how it turned out. I hope you will apply your creative talents to make one or more for the men in your life.

Lovely Sunflower Birthday

 Welcome, fellow crafters!  Today's card is one I made for my daughter whose birthday falls this month. My daughter has many sunflowers in her back yard. It's like a big ray of sunshine covering a section of her yard. Hence the sunflower theme I used to create her card.

I began by creating the base card first using white card stock. It was then layered with chocolate brown card stock. The focal layer was embossed using white card stock and adhered to the prepared base. This was put aside while I created the sunflower and sentiment.

The sunflower was die cut and assembled in yellow card stock for the petals and in 2 different shades of brown for the center. I added markings to the bottom of the petals with Copic markers and used a gold gel pen for the"seedlings". The leaves were die cut in green card stock and then shading added using  darker green ink. The sentiment was computer generated along with the butterfly and then die cut in both white and brown card stock. 

The above being done, the sunflower was adhered to the prepared base card with dimensionals as were the leaves. I overlapped the white and brown sentiment labels to give interest and dimension. This completed my project.

Stitched Daisy Border Birthday

 Hello, fellow crafters! Here is another stitched card I made, this one for a cousin's birthday. Stitching on cards is a challenge but it is worth the time and effort put into it. I feel the results are beautiful.

I began my project by die cutting the floral  pattern on  white card stock with Marianne Design Stitching Daisies die set Using embroidery thread the flowers and leaves were stitched. Then the outline die of the same set was used to create the border.

The base card was created in white card stock and a bottom border was created using a Spelllbinders Borderabilities die. The stitched floral panel was then adhered to the front of the base card. The sentiment was  computer generated and then die cut with a Spellbinders Eliptical Oval die and mounted on the base card.

Three Square Stitched Floral Birthday

 Hello! I took a sabbatical from making cards due to having some home remodeling and landscaping done. But I'm back with this stitched floral birthday card. I love the new stitching dies. My hands and fingers got a good workout in creating the flowers on this card.

I began with die cutting the 3 squares panel in white card stock and mounting it on its zigzag counterpart with dimensional tape. This was then adhered to a green layer and then to a white card base. I put this aside to work on the die cut images.

The floral images were die cut in white card stock and then stitched with yellow embroidery floss for the petals and brown floss for the centers. The leaf branches were die cut in green card stock and the dragonfly was created using green card stock and green vellum. All images were adhered to the 3 square panel with dimensionals or adhesive.  The birthday greeting was computer generated.

Garden Shutter Birthday Card

 

 Hello fellow crafters! I took a break from watching the war in Ukraine. It is just heartbreaking to watch the onslaught of human lives and the destruction of their homeland, which is my homeland. My parents were born in Ukraine but were taken by the Germans to work for them during WWII. I was born in Germany and as refugees, my parents emigrated to the US since my mother had an aunt who had emigrated several years before. I was very young and don't remember anything. My mother told me that we traveled from Germany to the US on the USS Hershey. No wonder I love chocolate!

 Anyway, here is a card I created for my niece (the wife of one of my nephews). It is a shutter card made from a Spellbinders die set (listed below). Directions are included with the die set. Also, there are videos that give step by step instructions as well.
