Birthday Purse Card

Good morning! I'd like to share this card I made for my sister-in-law's recent birthday. I was inspired to make this after viewing Melanie Muenchinger's (of StampTV) video tutorial on creating a purse card.

Barrel of Get Well Wishes

Hello everyone! Today's card is for a friend and former co-worker who recently underwent knee surgery. He and his wife raise and show St. Bernards. So, with that in mind, I made this card for him.

I began with creating my focal panel. I found a digital stamp on line of a St. Bernard puppy with the infamous keg around his neck. I got an idea and ran with it. 

I printed out the digital stamp of the St Bernard puppy on GKD Pure Luxury White and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. Next, I die cut this panel with a die from Lil' Inkers Stitched Squares. I printed out the stamp one more time, colored the keg, cut it out and popped it onto the stamped image just to give it dimension. Then I die cut another panel in SU Crumb Cake using the next larger die from the same stitched squares die set. These 2 panels were adhered together.

The card base was created using GKD Soft Sand card stock. I layered it with GKD Warm Cocoa card stock which was cut with a die from Spellbinders 6X6 Matting Basics B. Finally, I used dimensionals to attach my focal panel to my prepared card base. The sentiment was personally composed and computer generated and then cut with a die from Spellbinders A2 Distressed Edges and popped onto the card. That completed my project.

Globe Birthday

Happy Summer everyone! After a weekend of 90 degree weather, we're back to the 80s.  Still a bit too warm for me but I'll take it over the 90s. My perfect temp is about 75. Is there anywhere where 75 degrees is constant???

Because it's been so warm I have been inside crafting. My latest project is this card that I made for my future son-in-law's upcoming birthday. I just love how it turned out! I usually have a picture in my mind's eye what I would like to create. Sometimes what I see in my head does not always appeal to me when I put it to paper. So in the end the initial idea morphs into something different. Can you relate to that?

When planning this project I knew I wanted to use the globe image. After several different scenarios I finally decided on creating a "niche" in which to showcase the globe.  I began by creating the "wall" in which the niche would sit. Using blue wood grain paneling digital paper for my focal layer, I cut a square in the layer. Next I used brown wood grain paneling paper, the same size as the focal layer, and ran it through a Darice Wood Grain EF to give it actual wood grain texture. This layer was then adhered to the back of the focal layer using dimensionals. Using the same brown wood paneling paper, embossed with the wood grain EF, I created a frame to go around the opening by using two different size Spellbinders 6x6 dies. Next, my focal layer was matted with PTI Dark Chocolate card stock, followed by PTI Spring Rain card stock. This was then adhered to my base card (GKD Pure Luxury White).

The globe was created using IO Globe Set dies. The actual map portion was computer generated and sized to fit the globe. The globe image was then assembled and popped into the "niche" with dimensionals.  The sentiment was personally composed and computer generated and then cut with a die from Spellbinders Ribbon Banners. Before adhering the sentiment banner to the card, it was  sponged around the edges using GKD Powder Blue ink. My project was then complete.

First Confession / First Communion

Here are 2 cards I made for two young celebrants of their first Holy Confession and Holy Communion.

The base cards were prepared using GKD Pure Luxury White. I added a layer of blue glitter paper. Next came a layer in white which was dry embossed with a die from Sue Wilson's Austrian Salzburg die set. The cross was cut from white glitter paper with a die from Spellbinders Crosses Two. I added an additional slanted crossbeam which represents the footrest in the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition.

The top card was made for my Goddaughter's son. I adhered 3 ferns using a Martha Stewart Fern Punch and 1 flower using a die from Leane Creatief Small Flowers & Leaves to distinguish it from the other card which was made for my Goddaughter's niece. I used 3 flowers and 3 ferns on this one, using the same punch and die. A white pearl was added to the flower centers. The sentiment was computer generated and then cut with a die from Spellbinders Tranquil Moments set.

We celebrated 3 events:  First confession/communion, Father's Day and a promotion of one of my Goddaughter's brothers. This was held at another one of her brother's homes where we had a pool party, music, food and drink. The weather cooperated (90+ degrees) and we all had an enjoyable day, especially the kids who stayed in the pool the entire day. Oh, to be young again!

Sympathy in Blue

Hello everyone! Sadly, I needed a couple of sympathy cards. I never look forward to making these but I'm glad I can add my own thoughts or sentiments to the family. One card I saw on line caught my eye and I wanted to make a similar one. 

I began with creating a sponged circle in blue on my focal panel. Next I stamped the floral branch in black ink and embossed it with clear EP.  My sentiment was also stamped in black ink and embossed. I added a blue ribbon as a final touch. This was then popped onto a blue card base with dimensionals.

Single Layer Birthday

Hello, crafting friends! I'm sure all of you find single layer cards easy to make. There's so many things you can do on a single layer....die cut, emboss, stamp, water color, etc., and it will look great. I made this single layer card for this weeks Mod Squad Challenge.

On the front of my base card I embossed a pin point square. Next, I stamped my floral images with Versamark ink and embossed them with white EP. Finally I stamped my sentiment in black ink and embossd it with clear EP.  And that's it!

Cherry Blossom Birthday on Vellum

I made another card for the Just Us Girls challenge which required the use of vellum anywhere on the card. This is very similar to my previous card. I love the look of stamping or embossing on vellum. I think it gives a card a touch of elegance.

My first step was to cut a panel of vellum and stamp my cherry blossom branch in black ink and emboss it with clear EP.  I did the same with my sentiment. The dragonfly is a die cut which I adhered to the vellum.  

Next, I cut a panel of pink card stock to the same size as the vellum panel. The vellum was then adhered to the pink panel. I added a ribbon along the left edge. This was then adhered to my white card base with dimensionals and my card was complete.

Thinking of You on Vellum

Hello! It was hard for me to choose how to use vellum in this project. There are soooo  many possibilities. That was the challenge for this week at Just Us Girls Challenge Blog. Here's what I finally decided on....

I began by stamping the floral border in Versamark ink on clear vellum and then embossing it with white EP.  I did the same with my sentiment. The butterfly was stamped on a separate piece of vellum, embossed and then cut with a butterfly die.

I cut some green card stock the same size as the vellum panel and then adhered the two together on the left edge. I added a white ribbon down the side and attached the butterfly. This was then adhered to a white card base with dimensionals and my card was complete.

Dahlia Birthday in Wisteria

Hello!  I made this birthday card today for someone that I call a friend but have never met. I would also call this person a co-worker because we worked for the same organization in the legislative arena. However, we worked and lived states apart and never had the opportunity to meet face to face. We became what I call "telephone friends" during those years and this has carried over into our retirement years. 

I had no idea how big this card would turn out when I finally completed it. It turned out to be 6 x 6 inches. I saw a photo on line that gave me an idea for what I wanted to do so I began with my focal panel. At first, I stamped my floral image (from PTI Delightful Dahlia stamp set) onto a square panel of GKD Pure Luxury white card stock with Versamark, embossed it with white EP and colored it with Copic markers. I was going to leave it as is but then decided to cut out the dahlia image. Having done that I then prepared another square panel of white card stock using a die from Memory Box Pinpoint Squares.  Before removing the panel from the die, I sponged SU Wisteria Wonder ink around the edges.  For my sentiment, I used a stamp from GKD Wild Blossom stamp set and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of white card stock. Then it was die cut using a die from Memory Box Pinpoint Rectangles. The prepared focal panel, dahlia image, and sentiment strip were put aside so I could work on preparing my base card and layers.

The base was made using GKD Pure Luxury white card stock. It was layered with SU Wisteria Wonder card stock which was cut and embossed with a die from Spellbinders 6x6 Matting Basics A. Next, I added a layer of some patterned digital paper that I had in my stash. Finally, I adhered my focal panel to my card, popped on the dahlia image and sentiment strip with dimensionals and that completed my project.

Age is Merely a Number

Hi everyone! My brother retired at the beginning of this year. Over the years he  has traveled to many far away places such as Ireland, Italy, China, etc. So for his birthday, I decided to make a card representing some of his adventures.

I began with preparing my card base in GKD Blue Denim card stock. I then layered it with GKD Pure Luxury white card stock and, before removing the card stock from the die, I sponged around the edges with Memento Summer Sky ink. Next, I created a frame in silver card stock using a die from Spellbinders 6x6 Matting Basics A. I put this aside in order to work on my focal panel.

The globe was created in silver card stock using Impression Obsession's Globe Set die. The colored map portion of the globe was computer generated, sized and adhered to the globe to give it the realistic look. The filmstrip was made in black mirror card stock with a Marianne die.The photos in the film strip were computer generated and adhered to the film strip to represent some of the places my brother had traveled to.  The sentiment was personally composed and die cut with a Memory Box Pinpoint Rectangles die. The images and sentiment were then adhered to my prepared base card with dimensionals. My project was complete.

Smiling Daisy Get Well

Hello, everyone! I haven't been posting much due to other tasks and commitments. I hope to get back to posting more often. Here's a card I made for my dearest friend who underwent hip surgery very recently. 

I began with creating my focal panel by embossing a panel of GKD Pure Luxury White card stock with a Sizzix Framed Tulips EF.  For the center of this frame I adhered some lattice pattern digital paper from my stash. For the flower, I die cut 3 flowers using a die from Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters die set and layered them. I used a computer generated image of a smiley face for the center of the flower. The flower was then popped onto the focal panel using dimensionals. The foliage was created by using a Poppy Stamps Leafy Sprig die and adhered to the flower. The sentiment was computer generated and then cut with a die from Spellbinders A2 Distressed Edges and adhered to the panel with dimensionals.

My focal panel was then matted with GKD Sweet Corn card stock, followed by Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow card stock. This was then adhered to my base card which was created using GKD Pure Luxury White card stock.

Hello, fellow crafters!  Today's card was made for a friend who loves to read. She also loves wine and chocolates. And her birthday happens to fall on Valentine's Day. How lucky can you get??? So I decided to make her this birthday "book pop-up" card with all this in mind.

The base card was made with GKD white card stock and layered with some lightly patterned green paper that I had in my stash.The card front or focal panel was embossed with a Creative Expressions Textured Linen folder. The book worm was created using small circle die cuts in light green card stock. I added brads for the eyes. The glasses were cut from an Impression Obsession Retro Masculine die set.The book was hand created and the book title was self composed and computer generated on pink cardstock. The hands holding the book were created with small floral die cuts, cut in half to show only 3 "fingers" and then  adhered to the book. The sentiment was computer generated and then cut into a banner and matted with green patterned paper.

50th Anniversary

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to showcase a 50th Anniversary card I made for my dearest friend and her husband. They have shared 50 cherished years together. I wish you could see the shimmer of the champagne in the champagne glasses. It really is striking.

The base card was made using GKD white card stock. I layered it with gold glitter paper and put it aside. Meanwhile I prepared my focal panel by positioning a die cut heart, made with Memory Box Bingham Heart, and determining where to have my sentiment and their names placed. Nex,t I printed my sentiment and names via computer, positioned the heart die cut and adhered it.

The champagne glasses, cut with a Die-Namics die, were assembled using white card stock, vellum and gold glitter paper. Before adhering the glasses, I cut the number 50 from gold glitter paper and adhered  it beneath the heart. I was then able to position the champagne glasses in the manner shown in the photo.

For the interior of my card, I chose to die cut two other champagne glasses (from Cottage Cutz) and placed them around the verse. Here is a photo of one of the glasses:

Shopping For Your Birthday

Hello, crafting friends! My oldest and dearest friend's birthday is this month and this is the card I made for her. My creative juices were flowing at a snail's pace so I searched around the Internet and finally got inspired and created this card. I just love how it turned out!

The base card was made from GKD White card stock. It was layered with SU Blushing Bride, followed by GDK Black Onyx card stock. The focal layer was embossed with SU Square Lattice EF.

The sentiment was personally composed and computer generated and then cut with a die from Spellbinders A2 Distressed Edges. This was then matted in GKD Black Onyx.

The shopping bags were cut using Memory Box Gift Bag dies on various patterned papers from my stash. I adhered the names of major department stores and added tissue paper to make the bags more interesting and give the card more appeal.  Both the sentiment and bags were adhered with dimensionals.

I didn't post a photo of the inside of the card but would like to share the inside verse.....

  I added an image of a gift bag with the words "wishes" floating out of it.

It's Your Birthday, Sport!

Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I posted any of my cards. I was busy with appointments and household stuff that needed to be taken care of. I don't know where the time went. Tomorrow will be February 1 already and you'd never know it by looking outside. We have spring-like weather here in my neighborhood. It is currently 57 degrees. It should be in the teens or low twenties. I could learn to love this kind of winter weather,. But I'm sure we'll be paying for it sooner or later.

This is my first card of the year. I made it for one of my nephews who had a birthday this month. Please forgive the quality of the photo of the card. It was taken at night and the lighting was poor. I was planning to take another photo in daylight but I mailed the card out before remembering to snap a picture of it again. 

Basically there were only 2 types of products used in creating the card front:  card stock and dies. The sentiment was personally composed and computer generated.
