Cupcake

Hello everyone! Well, it's Thursday again and time for another Twisted Thursday "Anything Goes" challenge at The Outlawz. The optional twist for this week is "Sew/Flax Sewing". This twist includes faux sewing as well...creating stitch marks on your project with a pen.

I chose the cute little cupcake image from Besties and colored it with Copics. Next, I cut and embossed it with the largest die from Spellbinders A2 Valiant Honor.  A dark green ribbon was weaved through the openings around the entire die cut panel to represent the "sewing" option. It was then popped on to white card stock which was adhered to a mint green base card. My sentiment was computer generated, cut with Spellbinders Beaded Ovals die and then sponged around the edges with PTI Ocean Mist ink before being removed form the die and popped onto my base card.

Love Believes All

Hello, again! I am on a roll with these black and white cards. Here's yet another one I made for this week's challenge at Joan's Touch.

I created my card base in white card stock. Next, I cut and embossed a background in black card stock using Sue Wilson's California Background die and adhered it to my base. My sentiment, from GKD Stately Flowers 8, was stamped in black ink on white card stock and die cut with Spellbinders 5x7 Detailed Scallops. Once again, before removing it from the die, it was sponged with Memento Gray Flannel ink. Finally, the sentiment panel was popped onto the base with dimensionals.

Anniversary in Black & White

Here's another card I made for this week's challenge at Joan's Touch. Again, the criteria was to use black and white, scallops and dimension.

The base card was created using black card stock. I added a layer in white, die cut and embossed with Spellbinder's 5x7 Detailed Scallops. Next, on black card stock,  I stamped a sentiment from GKD Elegant Post stamp set in Versamark and embossed it with white EP. This was then cut and embossed with a die from Spellbinder's Elegant Ovals and popped on to my card with dimensionals.

The flower was created using Marianne Creatables Flowers Fantasy die. It was then layered and a drop of black Stickles was added to the center. When dry, the flower was popped on with dimensionals. The leaf branches were cut using  Poppy Stamps Leafy Sprig die, positioned around the flower and adhered to my card.

Love Bears All

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! This week's challenge at Joan's Touch called for making a card in black and white, use scallops and add dimension. Here is one card I made for this challenge. A second card will be posted in the next post.

I began by creating my base card in white. I cut a layer in black using a  Sue Wilson's Cordoba die and popped it onto my base with dimensionals. In my next step I stamped my sentiment (from GKD Stately Flowers 8) in black ink. This was then cut and embossed with Spellbinder's 5x7 Detailed Scallops die. Before removing it from the die, I sponged it with Memento Gray Flannel ink and popped in on to my card with dimensionals. As a last step, I cut a leafy corner using Cheery Lynn's Ivy Corner Flourish die and adhered it to my card.

I really love how this card turned out. Black and white is always stunning and elegant. I think this would be a lovely card for a wedding or anniversary.

Birthday Shopping

Hello, everyone! June has arrived and summer is almost here, although we've had summer weather in my neighborhood for the last week...hot and humid. And the first week's challenge in June has arrived at The Outlawz....."anything goes" with an optional twist to make your project feminine. Now, we all know and believe that "shopping" is a female thing, so I decided to make this card for our Design Team inspiration display.

This is a tall card...the white base card measures 7.75 inches long and 5 inches wide. To the base I added a layer of Swiss dotted patterned paper in grape. I put this aside while I worked on my focal image.

The image is a Bestie's digital stamp which I colored with Copic markers and then cut it with Spellbinders Labels Thirty Six. Before removing it from the die, I sponged the edges with Memento Lulu Lavender ink.

Using Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25, I die cut a panel in white card stock and matted it with GKD Lovely Lavender. This was then popped onto my base card with dimensionals. At this point I adhered my focal image to this panel, also with dimensionals.

To complete the card I composed a sentiment on my computer, cut it with a smaller die from Spellbinders Labels Thirty Six and popped it in the upper left corner of my card. I topped my sentiment with a bow using designer paper from Dovecraft and die cut with Sue Wilson's Classic 3D Bows.

Birthday Text Message

Hello, everyone! The merry month of May is almost over and I hope you all had a wonderful month, enjoying Mother's Day and celebrating the Memorial Day holiday. And the final challenge for the month of May is happening at The Outlawz. This week's challenge is, as always, "Anything Goes", but with NO optional twist this time.

The card I created for this week's Design Team display was not difficult at all.  I used a Stitchy Bear image and colored it with Copic markers. I composed my sentiment, positioned and printed it next to my image. Next, using a die from Susan Wilson's  Decorative Frames B. I cut my image panel. Before removing it from the die, I sponged around the edges with Memento Desert Sand ink. To make the theme of my project complete, I added a cell phone digital stamp image using dimensionals.

I prepared my base card in white card stock and layered it with GKD Blue Denim. I added a another layer of patterned paper. At this point, I popped on my focal image to my base card with dimensionals and my card was complete.

Floral Fold Card

Hello! Today I made this card for this week's challenge at Joan's Touch. I don't know exactly what type of card this is but I call it a mini fold card. Joan's Touch provided very simple instructions on how to create it for this challenge. If anyone is interested, click on the challenge blog link above and it will take you to the challenge site where you will find the instructions.

The card is made from one piece of card stock cut 7.5 in length and 4.25 in width and scored at 4 various points. The sentiment is from GKD Flowers Bloom stamp set and was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The floral image is from HFC Tattered Blossom Swirl set and was stamped twice; once on the prepared card and a second time on another piece of card stock. The part of the image which was stamped above the score line on the card was cut out and the card was then folded on all 4 score lines and the bottom scored piece adhered to the front. The floral image which I  had stamped on a separate piece of card stock was colored with Copics, cut out and then adhered over the image on the card. 

This was a very simple card to make. The most difficult part was cutting out the area above the score line. I used both a craft knife and scissors, neither of which I am a master of.

Foil Graduation Card

Hello, everyone! With spring finally here along with it comes yard work and planting. And that's what I've been doing. It's also time for graduations and that's the theme I chose for my project for the "Anything Goes" challenge at The Outlawz, with an option to incorporate tin foil or metal into the challenge.

I started out with creating my base card in ivory card stock. Next, I cut a panel in tin foil slightly smaller than the front of my base card and matted it with card stock to make it sturdier. I then used a Spellbinders Classic Ovals die to cut out the center. Next, I embossed it with a Darice Wood Grain folder and sponged it with Stazon Timber Brown ink.

Without adhering this wood grain embossed panel, I centered it on the front of my base card in order to have a precise placement position where I would be stamping my tree branch image (from GKD Celebrate the Season) in order that it would show through the oval opening. Having marked the area lightly, my next step was to color the tree branch stamp with Memento markers, "huff" on it and then stamp it on my base card where marked. The apple images (from GKD The Giving Tree) were stamped in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and then Glossy Accents was applied to give them a shine. This being completed, the foil panel was then adhered to the base with dimensionals, making sure the oval was centered over the tree branch image.

The studious owl is a Stitchy Bear digital stamp which was colored with Copics and then popped on to my card. The sentiment, which I thought was most befitting, is a quote from Albert Einstein and was computer generated. The greeting was also computer generated. To add a little extra something I stamped the apple image on the sentiment panel as well. Finally, the sentiment label was cut with Spellbinders Labels Thirty Six and sponged around the edges before being removed from the die and popped on with dimensionals.

Fly Away

Hello, everyone! It has been raining here on and off for the last 3 days. Can't get any work done outdoors like the planting of my flowers. But what better way is there to spend rainy days than to rev up your creative juices and do some crafting!

Here's a card I made for this week's Twisted Thursday challenge at The Outlawz. As always, the challenge is "Anything Goes" with an optional twist. This week the twist is "things with wings".

I began by making a 5.5 x 5.5 inch base card in white card stock. Using black card stock, I used a Martha Stewart punch around the page punch to create a layer which I adhered to my base. 

The floral image is a Stitchy Bear digital stamp which I printed out on white card stock and colored with Copic markers.  Next, I die cut this panel using Spellbinders Luscious Labels One and, while still in the die, sponged it with Memento Angel Pink ink. This was then popped on to my base card.

The butterfly was created with dies from Spellbinders Les Papillions Two; bottom butterfly layer in pink using the closed die and the top layer in black using the intricate open die. Then the two butterfly layers were attached in the middle section in order that the wings would be free and the entire butterfly was popped on with dimensionals to the base card.

Lady Jane

Hi, everyone! Time once again for the Twisted Thursday challenge at The Outlawz. The optional "twist" for this week's challenge is to use dies and/or punches.  For the entire month of May the sponsors are Stitchy Bear and Paper Temptress. Here is the card I made for this challenge.

After deciding what dies I was going to use, I first created my base card and layered it with GKD Blue Denim card stock. I added a layer of patterned paper from my stash.

Next, I worked on my focal image which is a Stitchy Bear Designs digital stamp entitled "Lady Jane".  I colored the image with Copic markers and then die cut it with Spellbinders Elegant Ovals. Using a die from Marianne Creatables Anja's Large Ovals, I cut a panel in blue denim card stock and matted my focal image. This was then popped on to my base card.

I thought the sentiment was perfect for this image and had it computer generated and then cut and embossed it with the smallest die from Spellbinders 5x7 Detailed Scallops die. I adhered it to my card with dimensionals and my card was finished

Lass with Class

Happy Cinco de Mayo! In case anyone is celebrating, hope you're enjoying the day. The card I made today is for a challenge at Sentimental Sundays where the theme was Shabby Chic or to use lace or a doily. I chose to use a doily in my project and created a dress with it.

I began by creating the dress and wanted to see where it took me. Instead of going through the steps of how I created it, here is a link to a dress tutorial. There are many doily dresses out there created by some very talented individuals. The possibilities are many. And what a perfect idea this would be for a bridal shower or a wedding or even a graduation.

With the dress being done, I now had to decide how I would incorporate it into my card design. For some reason, I've used the color turquoise a couple of times lately and I wanted to use it again to make the dress stand out.  So I die cut a panel with Spellbinders Majestic Labels Eight and Labels Seventeen which resulted in the turquoise panel.

In my next step, I embossed a layer in white card stock using a Darice Interlocking Circles folder. To add some color to this embossed layer I used Vivid Straw ink and created dots in the centers of the circles. This was then matted with a turquoise layer and then adhered to a white card base.

My sentiment was personally computer generated and cut with a die from Spellbinders Labels Thirty-Six.  Before removing it from the die it was sponged with PTI Hawaiian Shores ink.

At this point, I put everything together. I adhered the turquoise die cut panel to my prepared base card at an angle using dimensionals. The dress was adhered to the panel, also at a slight angle and with dimensionals. Finally, the sentiment was popped on. My project was complete.

Sympathy II

Here is another sympathy card I created today that I will be including in a boxed set of occasional cards that I am preparing for a friend.

I began with a base card in white card stock and layered it with GKD Blue Denim. For my focal point panel/layer I had my sentiment computer generated and stamped my image (GKD You're My Favorite stamp set duo) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped it a second time but on scrap paper first and then on my focal panel.

Next, I embossed this panel with a die from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles. Before removing the die, I sponged Memento Summer Sky ink around the edges. This panel was adhered to my base and my project was complete.

Sympathy Oval

Hello, everyone! I'm so saddened to say that I needed to create a sympathy card for a former co-worker and friend who very recently lost her beloved husband. I hope it lets her and her family know that they are in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

I think this is a very CAS card yet has a touch of elegance. It is a one layer card with both the base and single layer being white.

For the one single layer I first computer generated my sentiment. Next, I stamped my image (GKD Elegant Florals) in Versamark and embossed it with clear EP.  Then I used Spellbinders Elegant Ovals to emboss around my image and sentiment. Before removing the die, I applied the "Emboss Resist" technique using Memento Desert Sand ink. (For those who aren't familiar with this technique, click on this link for a video tutorial at Stamp TV).

When this layer was completed, I adhered it to my base card and added 3 small pearls in the upper left corner just to add that final touch.

Belted Birthday (Masculine)

Hi everyone! Masculine card ideas do not come easily to me. Looking for inspiration in order to create a card for my brother's upcoming birthday, I came across what I thought was a great masculine card. So I decided to make a similar one. The card turned out to be very attractive. However, the photo just doesn't do it justice.

The only card stock colors I used were kraft and brown. I made the base card in kraft, layered it with brown and then added a layer of digital designer paper (although the design isn't visible in the photo). I stamped my sentiment in Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

For the belt, I cut a strip of brown card stock 5-1/2 inches long and 1-1/8 inches wide. I layered it with a strip of digital patterned paper cut 5-1/2 inches long and 7/8 inches wide. Next, I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch 5 holes, spaced about 1 inch apart. I then used my Crop-a-Dile again to insert the gold eyelets in each hole. The buckle was made in brown card stock using the smallest die from Spellbinders Labels One and the center was cut out with the smallest die from Spellbinders Classic Squares Small. After using adhesive tape to attach the buckle to the belt, the completed belt was adhered to the base card.

Fashion Statement

 Hello, my talented friends! Here it is the first day of May, a Thursday, and time for another weekly challenge at The Outlawz. This week's Twisted Thursday challenge is a "BINGO" challenge. All you need to do is choose one row/column from the Bingo board below and create your project using those items - it can be a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row/column - the choice is yours. 

I selected the center vertical column for my project (die cut, digi image, paper piecing). Check out what the other Design Team members created, get inspired and come join the fun.

Since one of our sponsors for the month of May is Stitchy Bear images, I chose an image called "Polka Dots". Here's a photo of it: 

 

First, I printed the image on white card stock. Then, I printed it out a second time on patterned paper (with polka dots, of course) and cut out the dress and hat images. These were then adhered over the dress and hat images printed on the white paper. Thus, two of the bingo options were complete: the digi image and the paper piecing. 

Next, I colored the purse and shoes using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. I used a Copic marker to add the blue to the purse and the sunglasses and a gray marker for the purse handle and the dress hanger. This being completed, I then cut this panel with the second largest die from Spellbinder A2 Modern Stationary. Before removing it from the die, I sponged around the edges using PTI Ocean Mist ink  I matted this with white, using the largest die from the same Spellbinders set.

Having completed working on the focal panel, I prepared my base card in white, added a turquoise layer followed by the polka dot patterned paper. I then popped on my focal panel with dimensionals. To finish it off, I stamped my sentiment (from GKD You've Got Style) on white in black ink, die cut it with Spellbinders Labels 34, sponged it with the PTI ink and popped it on with dimensionals. The final Bingo option had been met (die cuts) and my project was done.
